Afghanistan-uka 2015 er et samarbeid mellom Afghanistankomiteen, Chr. Michelsens institutt (CMI) og Institutt for fredsforskning (PRIO). I tillegg bidrar en lang rekke andre organisasjoner til programmet. Sentrale afghanske og internasjonale eksperter og aktører kommer til Norge for å stå bak talerstoler og delta i debatter. Afghanistankomiteen er initiativtaker og koordinator for uka som blir gjennomført med støtte fra Fritt Ord og Norad. De fleste av arrangementene vil foregå hos Røde Kors i Hausmanns gate 7 i Oslo.
The Afghanistan Week 2015 is a cooperation between the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), along with a host of Norwegian NGOs. Our aim is to bring Afghanistan to the top of the Norwegian agenda, bringing Afghan and international experts to Norway to inform and debate. Most events will take place at Hausmanns gate 7, hosted by The Norwegian Red Cross.
Om Afghanistan-uka
Afghanistankomiteen er initiativtaker og koordinator for Afghanistan-uka. De mest sentrale bidragsyterne er Institutt for fredsforskning (PRIO) og Chr. Michelsen Institutt (CMI). Nansen Fredssenter, Flyktninghjelpen, FOKUS, Røde Kors, Kirkens Nødhjelp, Oslo Dokumentarkino og en rekke frivillige bidrar også til programmet. Programmet gjennomføres med midler fra blant andre Fritt Ord og Norad.
Debatt og brobygging er bakgrunnen for ukaAfghanistan er inne i en kritisk fase. I april er det presidentvalg, og innen utgangen av året skal flesteparten av de utenlandske styrkene være ute av landet. Norge har et mangeårig militært engasjement i Afghanistan bak seg og har forpliktet seg til å opprettholde et høyt bistandsnivå i årene som kommer. Norges engasjement og Afghanistans situasjon krever debatt om Norges rolle, og om Afghanistans utfordringer og fremtid. Debattene bør bringe mange stemmer på banen, ikke minst afghanske.
Hvilket Afghanistan forlater vi? Gjorde vi det vi sa at vi skulle? Hva gjør vi fremover? Hva står på spill for Afghanistan? Dette er blant spørsmålene vi stiller denne uka. Vi utfordrer norske og internasjonale eksperter, politikere og afghanere og inviterer til en hel uke med Afghanistan på programmet.

The Afghanistan Week 2015
The Afghanistan Week 2015 is a cooperation between the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Contributing to the extensive and varied programme is also a host of actors from the non-governmental sector. During the Afghanistan Week 2015, Afghan and international key stakeholders and researchers will come to Norway to participate in panel discussions, seminars and give lectures. Our aim is to bring Afghanistan to the top of the Norwegian agenda. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee has initiated the Afghanistan Week and coordinates the event.
Status
The presidential election in Afghanistan was stained by political unrest and accusations. When Ashraf Ghani eventually was appointed president, chaos had reigned for months. Ghani’s skills will be put to the test as he tries to tackle Afghanistan’s financial problems and security challenges. The number of international troops has been drastically reduced. The Afghans are expected to take full responsibility from now on. At the same time, Afghanistan is entirely dependent on international support in order to maintain a functional state and implement development projects. What challenges will Afghanistan face in the years to come? How can and should the international society support the Afghans?
Topics for debate
We put Afghanistan on the agenda through an entire week of debates, seminars and cultural events. This year’s events cover a wide range of issues; women’s rights, the country’s role in regional geopolitics, Afghan politics, environmental issues and Norway’s engagement in Afghanistan.
